VARICOSE VEINS

Spider veins and varicose veins may be treated with either lasers or with an injection process called sclerotherapy. These unsightly and sometimes painful veins are actually dilated blood vessels. Spider veins are usually red or blue often forming a web pattern or "sunburst" pattern on the legs. These veins can be from hereditary conditions, the result of an accident, from tight clothing or girdles or in conjunction with varicose veins. Both men and women can suffer from spider veins but because female hormones often play a role in the development of spider veins, women are much more likely to develop this condition.

Sclerotherapy is an injection given at our offices to reduce the appearance of these veins. A sclerosing solution is injected with a very fine needle directly into the affected vein. The solution works by irritating the lining of the blood vessel causing it to eventually turn to scar tissue and be reabsorbed by the body and virtually disappear. Most patients see a 50 to 90% improvement in the appearance of their spider veins after several treatments. Larger varicose veins can be treated with intravascular laser therapy or radiofrequency, followed by compression.

COLLAGEN TREATMENTS

Collagen Replacement Treatments are extremely helpful in smoothing out wrinkles and lines caused from smoking, smiling, squinting and frowning. It has been one of the top ten cosmetic procedures preformed in the United States since the procedure was approved by the FDA in 1981.

As the body ages, it naturally loses collagen and elastin causing the skin to wrinkle. These collagen replacement injections use Zyderm™ and Zyplast™ which are natural substances derived from purified bovine (cow) collagen. These substances are injected just beneath the skin where your body accepts it and uses it to fill in facial wrinkles.

Collagen is a safe, nonsurgical treatment and requires relatively no healing period unlike some other procedures.

Patients may resume normal activities immediately following the procedure. Most patients suffer only mild discomfort, slight swelling and occasionally some light bruising. Depending on the depth of the wrinkle, several injection may be required. As the aging process is constant, most patients have touch-up procedures about four times a year.

CHEMICAL PEEL

OBAGI Blue Peel™ reduces wrinkles, tightens the skin and helps to give your skin a more youthful appearance by chemically peeling away layers of dead skin cells. OBAGI Blue Peel™ can also improve skin conditions like shallow acne scars, freckled skin, sun damaged skin and smooth uneven pigmentation. It can be performed on other areas besides the face such as the neck, chest, hands, feet and arms.
OBAGI Blue Peel™ only takes about 30 minutes and is preformed outpatient at either of our two locations. This peel uses a slow acting TCA (trichloroacetic acid)solution which enables the doctor to control both the peel process and its depth.
After application of OBAGI Blue Peel™ there is a two to three day peeling period followed by another seven to ten day healing process. After your peel heals , your new skin will be tighter and smoother, giving you a younger more heathy appearance.
